چکیده

Background and Objectives: The QT interval (QTi) and QT dispersion (QTd), which represent the myocardial electrical heterogeneity of repolarization, were studied to recognize the differences between normal controls (n=32) and stable angina patients (n=78). Subjects and Methods: During the treadmill exercise test, standard 12 lead Electrocardiogram (ECG) was obtained at every stage, with the QTi and QTd measured. The corrected QT interval (cQTi) and QT dispersion (cQTd) were calculated using Bazett’s formula, with the Delta QT interval (ΔQTi) measured on leads V5 and aVF. Results: During exercise, the QTi had a reverse relationship with the heart rate in both groups, but was decreased by a lesser extent in the patient group. The QTd also had a tendency to decrease according to increasing heart rate in both groups and was significantly greater in the patient group. The corrected QTi increased during exercise in both groups, and reached maximum during the pre-peak stage, but was minimized during a 1 minute recovery stage in the patient group. The corrected QTd reached a maximum during the peak exercise stage in both groups, but the values between the two groups were significantly different. Both the QTi and cQTi had tendencies to increase according to the number of vessels with stenosis. The ΔQTi tended to reflect a regional ischemia in a single vessel disease. Conclusion: The QTi, QTd, cQTi and cQTd were increased in the stable angina patients compared with the normal controls, and augmented during the exercise test. QT-Dispersion as a potential marker in prognosis of acute myocardial infarction

Introduction: QT dispersion in a 12 lead ECG represents the heterogeneity of ventricular repolarization. The prolongation of QT-interval dispersion increases the risk of coronary heart disease, ventricular arrhythmia, and sudden cardiac death in patients with myocardial infarction. We aimed to investigate the prognostic value of QT-dispersion in patients with acute myocardial infarction. Meth...

CORRECTED QT DISPERSION IN CHILDREN WITH ISOLATED UNCOMPLICATED MITRAL VALVE PROLAPSE

Mitral valve prolapse (MVP) is a relatively frequent valvular abnormality. In both children and adults with MVP, an increased incidence of ventricular arrhythmias has been reported. QT dispersion, defined as the difference in duration between the longest QT interval and the shortest one, for a given set of electrocardiographic leads has been proposed as a sign of regional difference in card...

Changes in QT interval before and after hemodialysis

Background: Cardiovascular mortality and morbidity are high in chronic renal failure (CRF) patients. Increased dispersion of QT intervals is known to predispose to ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. This study was conducted to assess the effect of hemodialysis (HD) on corrected QT (QTc) intervals and their dispersions (QTd) in chronic hemodialyzed patients. Methods: Fifty-eight p...

بررسی QT طولانی در کودکان مبتلا به کری مادرزادی: گزارش کوتاه

Background: Long QT syndromes (LQT) are genetic abnormalities of ventricular repo-larization, with an estimated incidence of about one per 10000 births. It is characterized by prolongation of the QT interval in electrocardiogram (EKG) and associated with a high risk for syncope and sudden death in patients. Type of this syndrome is association with congenital deafness. Our objective was to eval...

The impact of chronic hemodialysis on QT dispersion corrected QTdispersion and maximum QT-dispersion

Introduction: Sudden cardiac death is common in patients on hemodialysis and may occur in the immediate postdialysis period when ventricular premature complexes are common. QT dispersion reflecting hetovogelity in ventricle repolarization has been used for predicting patients with risk of malignant arrhythmia and sudden death. The purpose of the study was to assess the effect of hemodialysis on...
